The overriding feeling this morning is one of what might have been. Leeds were not firing on all cylinders at Bristol for some reason, didn’t quite find the fluidity we saw against Ipswich and that, coupled with a dire and inconsistent referee and a decent Bristol side meant we didn’t have quite enough to beat them. As so often there was nothing between two decent if not awe inspiring teams and one poor referees call to allow a rash tackle on Hernandez was probably the difference.
Having said that, Leeds once again made more than enough chances to have come away with all three points never mind the one that Garry Monk thought we deserved. We have tightened up the defence, we have some decent ability in midfield, now we just need to spend some time on ensuring that when we get in good positions at the top end of the pitch we make the right decisions and we finish our chances. We are not so good that we can afford to allow any player to not be at the top of his game either and last night the drive we saw from Pablo at Cardiff and against Ipswich was less obvious and it was hard to think of a Leeds player who stood out.
The key now is to ensure we come out against Barnsley on Saturday with all guns firing and recapture that Ipswich swagger. A small doubt was obviously created last night and that needs to be banished quickly and not allowed to fester over the forthcoming international break as that will just affect confidence going forward. We need to be realistic though, we are a good side but not a world beating side; we will suffer set-backs along the way. We just need to ensure they are quickly forgotten and we pick ourselves up and get back on the right track soon.
