Brentford 2 Leeds United 0
I wasn’t at the Brentford game and, still being on my Australian and Honk Kong adventure, had no way of following the action from the game. From the eye witness reports of those at the game though this seems to have been another disappointing display and the Brentford performance in the first half is generally acknowledged as one of the better ones any side had managed against us this season. Garry Monk raised a few eyebrows with another juggling of his wide players for this game with Barrow and Dallas starting and then Doukara, Roofe and Pedraza all getting game time from the bench. At Reading of course Sacko and Pedraza started. This sort of gives the impression that Monk isn’t actually sure who his best wide men are and that doesn’t really surprise me as none of them has really risen to the challenge and cemented any permanent claim to a shirt. It is the one aspect of the squad that continues to look weak in quality despite the obvious wealth in numbers. The other possible selection issue, over who to play at centre back has now been settled with Liam Cooper now banned for six games for his moment of madness at Reading, not the first time our Coops has had a rush of blood to the head… or in this case someone else’s head! On we go, six games left, 18 points and no doubt a few more twists and turns!
